Wayne Goss Makeup Brushes Review!

Hello everyone!

Today's blog is going to be a review on my favourite makeup brushes by Wayne Goss.
I got the 8 Piece Brush Set and the Holiday Brush as a gift from my mother last year for Christmas. Ever since then, I have been using them almost on a daily basis and I have to say, these are some of the best brushes I have ever used in my whole life!
To start off, the 8 Piece Brush Set came in a little black canister. It was really handy as I use it to hold my brushes as it keeps them tidy and safe. I love how the handles are slim and have just a tiny little bit of weight in them, this makes them easier to control and a lot more comfortable to hold in your hand.
The shape in the which the bristles of most of Wayne's brushes are in look very similar to traditional Japanese makeup brushes, to which I should add, these brushes were hand made in Japan by 20 artisans. So the quality of these brushes is second to none. None of the brushes malted any bristle, even when they were brand new.
(The amazing Wayne Goss brushes! The reviews go in order of the brushes from top to bottom.)

Now, here is a little review on each brush!

Brush No.01: Is a stippling/buffing brush for foundation (or any other kind cream-based makeup). The brush is super soft so it doesn't pull on your skin and it doesn't leave any streaks in it's wake. I find that it shows the best results when buffing in a circular motion. The bristles are duo fiber so it will not pick up too much product and it will give a nice even application.

Brush No.02: This could be used as a blush brush, a contouring brush or a small powder brush. I mostly use this brush to contour as it is the perfect size to get just under my cheekbones and create a soft contour. The tapered bristles allow for easy, even blending.

Brush No.03: This brush is a large fluffy eyeshadow brush. It creates a nice soft hue of colour on the eyes and is an excellent brush for blending out other shadows to create a softer look.

Brush No.04: A less fluffy, slightly smaller version of the No.03 brush. It is a little more dense, which allows it to apply the colour more intensely, but still give that nice blended effect. I usually use this brush for applying shadow in my creases.

Brush No.05: Is another, even smaller version of the No.04 brush with the same bristle density. The small size of the brush allows for precise application of colour wherever you want to apply it. This brush is also great for work underneath the eye.

Brush No.06: Is flat and domed in shape and is perfect for applying colour all over the eyelid. It packs on the colour without making it look cake-y. You can also use it apply shadow in your crease if you use the thin point of the brush.

Brush No.07: Small, dense and flat; it can be used to smoke out eyeliner, create a cut crease or even pack on super intense colours. It can even be used to softly line the eye with either shadow or gel eyeliner. This is probably my favourite brush out of the lot because it has so many uses.

Brush No.08: I have never seen an eyeliner brush quite like this, but it is a great one nonetheless! The brush in super thin and dense, which is perfect for creating sharp, intense and precise lines. When used with powders, it becomes a great brow brush as well, giving you the ability to draw on fine, soft lines to fill in your brows.

Holiday Brush: This brush is large and very fluffy. It is ideal for setting foundations with loose powders, applying mineral foundation, bronzing and even contouring. When using it to set liquid foundation, the soft bristles do not move any of the foundation and it does not pack on a lot of powder. It give a nice smooth finish to your makeup.

All in all, Wayne Goss' brushes feel like feathers on my skin, they are not scratchy, they do not pull on my skin and they are suitable for both professional and personal use. They allow for perfect application each and every time they are used. I cannot stress just how amazing these brushes are! They are truly works of art themselves and I cannot wait to get my hands on the rest of his brush collection!

Face of the Day 24/09/15

Hello everyone!

I want to start showing you all some of the makeup I do on my self as well as tell you about the products I use and what I think of them.

This is today's look:

My base is M.A.C's Pro Longwear Nourishing Waterproof Foundation in NC20 with Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer underneath it. The Hourglass primer gives a smooth, velvety texture to your skin and the foundation sticks to it very well, making last throughout the day. It also has an SPF of 15 which is another thing I love about this primer, as it provides some sun protection (I also usually wear a lightweight SPF 50+ sunscreen under all my makeup as part of my skin care routine).
The foundation from M.A.C. has a semi matte finish and feels light on the skin. I find that this product is best applied with a buffing brush and really buffed into the skin to make it look more natural (I use Makeup Geek's Buffing Brush for this). As for the longevity of this foundation, so far I have found that it lasts really well, the only problem is that I have oily skin and no matter what I use, the oil will always seep through at some point in the day, and that causes the foundation to slip a little in some areas.
I conceal around my eyes and over any blemishes with Illamasqua Skin Base Lift in Light 2, which has a slight peachy tone to it. This concealer has a light, creamy texture and applies smoothly either with a small concealer brush or with fingers. I tend to use my fingers when concealing as it tends to cover more. Out of all the concealers I have tried, this one has worked the best for me. It lasts, doesn't slip and covers dark circles like magic!
My base is set with M.A.C's Pro Longwear Powder in Light using the powder puff provided in the compact. This powder does give a little bit of colour and therefore provide a small amount of coverage over the foundation/concealer.

On my eyes I first put down a base colour of Beaches and Cream by Makeup Geek, using Wayne Goss' eye brush No.06, all over my eyelids. Then, using Wayne Goss' eye brush No.03 and Makeup Geek eyeshadow in Latte, I lightly blended the eyeshadow all the way through my crease and then using Wayne Goss' brush No.04 and Makeup Geek eyeshadow in Cocoa Bear, I intensified the colour starting on the outer edge of my crease and working it through until about halfway. I then went in with Wayne Goss' brush No.05 and just a tiny amount of Makeup Geek eyeshadow in Corrupt and deepened the very outer edge of my eye.
I have always been fond of incorporating bright colours in my personal makeup, so I added a pop of Sugarpill's Poison Plum eyeshadow under my eyes using Wayne Goss' brush No.07 and then blending it out just a touch with the No.05 brush after cleaning it.
The eyeliner I used in today's look was a gel liner from Makeup Geek in the colour Immortal and I have applied it using Wayne Goss' brush No.08. (I will write reviews on what I think about Makeup Geek and Wayne Goss' products in another blog)

After applying Illamasqua's Mascara in Black to both my top and bottom lashes, I then applied individual lashes from Model Rock. The ones that I used are the Double Style, which have double the amount of hair on each cluster than the regular style does.

I don't usually fill in my eyebrows because they are naturally dark and thick, but today I filled them in just a little bit using Hourglass Arch Brow Sculpting Pencil in Dark Brunette.

I am not a fan of applying a lot of blush to my cheeks like what a lot of people are doing these days. I only apply enough to give just a little hue of colour. In this look I am using Makeup Geek's powder blush in Romantic. For my contour I applied just a small amount of M.A.C's Sculpting Powder in Harmony in the hollows of my cheeks.

For my lips I applied M.A.C's Lipstick in Morange and the blotted most of it off with a tissue so that I am left with a stain. I then applied Christian Dior's Lip Maximizer Lipgloss on top of it to finish the whole look.

I hope you all like my look and if any of you have questions about the products I used or how I applied them, feel free to leave a comment!

Sydney's One Fine Day - Wedding Fair

Last weekend I had the privilege to be invited back again to assist Petr Vackar for Sydney's One Fine Day Fashion Show. It was a very busy 2 days but they were so much fun. Everyone who was involved was so kind and energetic that we all worked together fantastically. Petr and his team (including me) did the hair and makeup for the models walking the catwalk. All the hair and makeup looks were designed by Petr, but here are a few photos of the models I did hair and makeup on.

(Note: I did not do the makeup on the model whose hair I am doing in this photo!)

This hairstyle consisted of 3 braids that have been wrapped around each other to create a low bun. The front of this style was kept smooth, and only a few little wispy bits of hair were kept out. All in all, it was an easy-going, but very stylish look (one that I wouldn't mind trying out on myself one day!).

Adding the flower crowns made the overall look a lot more feminine and soft. There were real flowers on these crowns, including cherry blossoms.

This was just one of two makeup looks for the show. Inspired by 60's makeup, this look had a very modern feel to it with the subtle gold highlights on the face and ombré lips.

Overall, it was a very successful weekend. We got so much great feedback from both the audience and the backstage crew. The designer dresses that were showcased on the runway were all very unique in style and concept, a lot of them very feminine and some were very edgy and daring. They were all amazing dresses nonetheless! I cannot wait to work with Petr and his team again at the next One Fine Day Wedding Fair! :)
